Optimizing Both Physical and Perceived Force Feedback of Flywheel-Based, Directional Impact Handheld

I’ve mentored one of Prof. Mike Y. Chen’s students in this project focusing on developing an impact feedback device using a flywheel. This project explores the use of braking, accelerating, and decelerating a rotating wheel to create varied impact sensations. The potential applications of this research includes the creation of enhanced virtual impact experiences featuring realistic impact timing (1ms) and substantial torque magnitude (22Nm).
